Andrew is semi- professional photographer based at Wallerawang, New South Wales. Fascinated by the creative and narrative possibilities of photography since his early teens, now, in his 40’s he is giving free rein to that fascination.

With an abiding affection for his local area, "a photographers paradise", in which his family association stretches back over 150 years, much of his work is aimed at celebrating his belief that there is indeed a beauty to be found in every subject. It is the photographer’s role to recognise and capture that beauty.

A lover of history, he uses both film and digital equipment to create his images, based strongly on the natural and industrial heritage of the Lithgow Valley, which he strives to capture in a unique and thought- provoking fashion.

His photographs attempt to tell the story of their subject, or to at least give the viewer the opportunity to experience his perspective of that subject and to raise their own questions as to it’s place in the history or natural order of the area. On this basis his photographs portray everything from the broken ruins of historic industry and the eerie light of pre dawn on sandstone cliffs, to a flaming sunset framed by a modern day power station.

He has completed assignments on behalf of the Lithgow City Council, the Lithgow Business Association, Delta Electricity, the Celebrate Lithgow Committee and IronFest, He has also released a series of postcards based on Heritage sites in the Lithgow Valley. His images have been used in static displays, training manuals, brochures, presentations, and on web sites.
