The weather in Lithgow? CLICK HERE WEATHER WARNING!
The weather in April in Lithgow, being in the Mountains at over 900m above sea level,
can be quite extreme, most likely very cold (the last two Ironfest's have been arctic & very windy
- in 2008 the festival organizers were scraping off snow and ice from the marquees
and Hessian fencing while packing up!) but it can also be quite warm
(in 2005 on two perfectly calm days the temperature hit 25 degrees Celsius).
Best to check the weather before heading out to Lithgow, and if it says cold prepare for snow.
Hint: no matter what they say, always bring a jacket.
A sleepy little country town
in a steep, rugged,
little sun-drenched valley
being a gateway to the vast Wiradjuri tribal lands to the west, and a meeting place for the Gundungurra people in the east and the Dharug in the south-east.
Noted for its quaint
sometimes sober
and sometimes eccentric architecture,
some of it as a result of a rich industrial past.
Lithgow was once touted as
the Birmingham of Australia,
but alas....
the environment won out!
Lithgow is a great place to bring up kids.
And once a year the locals allow their peace and quiet to be disturbed by Ironfest.
